Marriott Under Investigation Over Disputes
Jan 9th, in a mail to its Chinese members, Marriott International has marked Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Tibet as “countries”. Presently Marriot’s official website is off-line, and the Company is under investigations from the Authorities.
Taiwan Fair Trade Commission has issued a NTD23.4 billion fine on Qualcomm for violations on anti-monoply laws. Qualcomm has exclusive position in CDMA, WCDMA and LTE, but refuses to grant patent to other chip makers and threatens to stop supply. Such actions are considered undermining competition in the chip market.
SEMI, the global industry association representing the electronics manufacturing supply chain, today reported that worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached US$13.1 billion for the first quarter of 2017. Korea is No.1 in the world, USD3.53 billion, up by 110%, followed by Taiwan, USD3.48 billion, up by 86%, 3rd place is China, USD 2.01 billion, up by 25%.
