2017 Q1 Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Billings

SEMI, the global industry association representing the electronics manufacturing supply chain, today reported that worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached US$13.1 billion for the first quarter of 2017. Korea is No.1 in the world, USD3.53 billion, up by 110%, followed by Taiwan, USD3.48 billion, up by 86%, 3rd place is China, USD 2.01 billion, up by 25%.


US Report on Chinese Semiconductor Industry


Jan 6th, in a Report to the President titled Ensuring Long-Term U.S. Leadership in Semiconductors submitted by Executive Office of the President
President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, it is claimed that “Now a concerted push by China to reshape the market in its favor, using industrial policies backed by over one hundred billion dollars in government-directed funds, threatens the competitiveness of U.S. industry and the national and global benefits it brings. ” and called for more restrictions.
